Attack thwarted by more than a hair

A 64-year-old woman fought off a neighbor and dragged him out of her house by his beard after he let himself into her Kansas City home and took his clothes off.

The woman said she awoke about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday and found her 62-year-old neighbor standing over her naked, according to court records. He allegedly grabbed her arm and said he was “just being friendly.”

She grabbed his beard and dragged him to her door in the 3200 block of Oakland Avenue. As she tried to throw him out, he allegedly grabbed her throat.



She picked up a tape measure and bonked it against his head three times. He left.



The woman said she found his black shorts on her DVD player in her living room. She threw them outside at her neighbor, who was sitting on her deck, crying, according to court records.



Police reports noted he had been drinking before the incident.



Jackson County prosecutors charged Laurence K. Saunders with burglary, sexual misconduct and two counts of assault.

He was in jail Wednesday, with bond set at $50,000.



Court records said Saunders had let himself into the woman’s house on Monday, too. In that case, he walked in without knocking and told her that her dog had escaped out her rear door. He told her that “anyone could enter” because it was left open, according to court records.

"Savage" served on Tito Ortiz's team during the reality show and set a "TUF" record by fighting five times on the show (once per week).

The former U.S. Army Reservist stopped Cleburn Walker with a 15-second TKO (due to an injury) to earn his way onto the cast. Although he dropped a decision to Josh Bryant in the opening round, he submitted Kyacey Uscola in the first-ever "TUF" wild-card fight, and then advanced to the finale with a decision upset of highly touted Kyle Noke in the quarterfinals and a decision win over Bryant in a semifinal rematch.

Some thoughts for folks who haven't seen it and aren't addicted yet:

0) this used to be a show about exploring unexplained physical phenomena. Now it splits time between the physical and the spiritual (I blame the success of ghost hunters and other MOMR shows that found an audience)

1) Josh Gates (narrater, star) is fucking hilarious.

2) Production has continued to improve each year

3) the show keeps having to replace secondary cast members, which I can only attest to the fact that Josh keeps making them do things that are stupidly dangerous and regularly out of control.

4) Lots of night-vision. Usually, there is at least one female in the cast that looks hot when scared on on night vision.

5) Ignore any segment that results in a trip to Jason and Grant to examine video footage. Pay attention to the rest.

Great show. Many lulz. Season premiere happened tonight. The promotion's debut in Germany came under fire there. Minors were banned from attending UFC 99 in person. And earlier this year, the UFC was banned from German television because the Bavarian state office for new media believed the sport glorifies violence.

Belfort has not fought since a UFC 103 win over Rich Franklin last September. He was expected to face middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 109, but Silva was still recovering from surgery. After several months of physical therapy on his leg, he returned in July for light training and said he would play his return by ear. It appears his recovery is well ahead of schedule.
