Alistair NOT fighting Aleksander in Poland

Well well well.. What a majority of people thought to be a ‘gift’ from the gods, a fight between Alistair Overeem and Aleksander Emelianenko, was swiftly debunked by Alistair himself through his twitter, The two are not meeting in Poland, it was a lie concocted up by the Media, he is in fact fighting in K-1, and not A.E.

From The Reem’s Twitter

“For the record: I will fight in the K-1 and not against Alexander E. I read something on the web and I’m not fighting him.”

And that settles it, The Reem has spoken.

Rumors poured in earlier this afternoon about a possible match-up between Japanese MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba and MMA’s class clown Jason “Mayhem” Miller at DREAM 16 on September 25. The rumor ended up becoming a reality when confirmed by DREAM President Keiichi Sasahara. Sakuraba, is coming off of a Decision loss in May against DREAM title contender Ralek Gracie at DREAM 14, while Mayhem is coming off of a win in April of this year in Strikeforce against fellow middleweight Tim Stout by stoppage. Another fight for the September 25th DREAM.16 is now “rumored”. Tapology.com reports that Joe Warren vs. Michihiro Omigawa is expected to take place at the event.

Norifumi “KID” Yamamoto vs. Hideo Tokoro, Marlon Sandro vs. Kazuyuki Miyata, Maxi vs. X are some of the other rumored fights for the event.

Adamek Defeats Grant

Author: admin | Filed under: News

Tomasz Adamek (42-1, 27 KOs) defeated Michael Grant (46-4, 34 KOs) by unanimous decision at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Adamek was able to control the first half the fight fairly easy with left hooks and body work. Grant started landing more clean jabs in the later rounds and even staggered Adamek a few times with right hands. Grant had Adamek on the run in the final round of the bout, but Adamek was able to survive.

Scores were 117-111, 118-110, 118-111. Bloodyfists scorecard was 116-112 for Adamek.

Adamek moves into title contention against any of the three heavyweight champs. Although Adamek did win this fight, he didn’t quite convince me that he would be a challenge to the Klitschko brothers. Grant is a slower, less active version of the brothers and he was able to take Adamek’s punches well. The small ring may have played a factor but Adamek’s performance tonight was only okay. Perhaps this was good preparation and I’m wrong. Grant does suffer a loss but in the process proved that he’s still competitive in today’s thin heavyweight division. This shouldn’t be the end for Grant as he showed a lot of heart and determination.
